instructions

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

Add the hashbrowns to the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish.

Mix together all of the remaining ingredients except for the bread crumbs in a large bowl until well combined.

Layer the mixture on top of the hashbrowns.

Top the casserole with the bread crumbs and bake for 1 hour.

To add a personal touch to this casserole, you can easily swap the shredded chicken for cooked turkey or ground beef for a different protein option.

Experimenting with vegetables such as green beans or bell peppers can also bring new flavors and textures.

For a richer taste, consider incorporating garlic powder or onion powder into the mixture, or add a cup of Greek yogurt or cream cheese for extra creaminess.

To enhance the topping, mix the breadcrumbs with melted butter before sprinkling them over the casserole for a deliciously crunchy finish.

To store your casserole, allow it to cool completely before covering it.

Transfer any leftovers to an airtight container and refrigerate. It will keep for up to 4 days.

For longer storage, you can freeze the casserole. Wrap it tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil, or place it in a freezer-safe container.

It will maintain its quality for up to 2-3 months. To reheat, thaw it overnight in the refrigerator if frozen, then bake at 350°F (175°C) until heated through.
