HOMEMADE CHICAGO STYLE DEEP DISH PIZZA
Ingredients :
1 teaspoon oil
1 pound pizza dough
1 ½ cups mozzarella, shredded
⅓ pound Italian sausage
⅓ cup pepperoni, diced
⅔ cups pizza sauce
½ cup Parmesan
Directions :
Preheat the oven to 425 F.
Lightly oil the bottom, but not the sides, of a 9-inch cake pan.
Press the dough into the bottom and up the sides of the pan.
Sprinkle 1 cup of mozzarella cheese in first.
Add in the raw Italian sausage on top of the cheese.
Add the pepperoni, and then the pizza sauce.
Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until dough is deeply golden brown.

Notes:

  • Dough Consistency: If the dough feels too sticky, add a bit more flour. If too dry, add a touch more warm water.
  • Cheese: For a traditional taste, use whole milk mozzarella and provolone. Pre-shredded cheese may not melt as well.
  • Crust Crispiness: For an extra crispy crust, preheat the pizza pan or skillet before adding the dough.
  • Toppings: Feel free to customize with additional toppings like mushrooms, olives, or bell peppers according to your preference.
  • Resting Time: Allow the pizza to cool for about 10 minutes before slicing to help the layers set and make serving easier.
